Interview: Beauty and Lifestyle blogger Tami Yu from www.feteafete.com

Tami, founder of www.feteafete.com is one of my favorite beauty and lifestyle bloggers, her writing style is like a breath of fresh air - so refreshing and elegant at the same time :)  Tami is based in San Francisco where she discovers restaurants, fashion, beauty, and travel destinations.

Now, onto the interview:

What inspired you to start your blog? Have you always been
interested in beauty?
My blog is a way to organize all my interests. Friends and family come to me for beauty advice all the time, so I thought this was a wonderful way to archive info on all the products I've tried. Like many teens, I had acne issues, so I also had an early interest in skin care and learned to really take care of my skin. I had also worked briefly in the beauty industry so being in that environment enabled me to really delve into the world of makeup and skin care.
How do you manage to keep your blog going for years, what helps you to come up with content and keep going?  Do you work on your blog full time?
You definitely need to be really, really disciplined to blog regularly. I post 4-5 days per week - sometimes less, sometimes more, depending on what's going on in my life. You have to stick with it even if you don't feel particularly creative that day. Many folks start a blog for fun and end up abandoning it. I'm extremely lucky to be able to blog full-time, but many people have day jobs, families and other obligations to worry about.  It helps to plan an editorial calendar and match it with your personal interests. For example, if Valentine's Day is coming up, think about beauty topics that might fit with that holiday.
What advice can you give to those who also want to start a blog?
I would say persistence, dedication, and passion are the key elements. If you don't love what you're writing about, it won't be successful. You also need to be organized and plan out your post topics ahead of time. Also take lots of notes on what inspires you - that will help with your blog design and blog philosophy. Make it personal and folks will read your posts. Most importantly, have fun with it!
What are some of your must-have skincare and cosmetic products at the moment?
I'm currently in love with Suki Renewal Bio-Resurfacing Facial Peel - it's a fantastic weekly peel for brighter skin, and it helps with acne and fine lines. The luxurious Le Soin Noir eye cream from Givenchy is amazing. I adore Marie Veronique Organics SPF products - the Moisturizing Face Screen and Kid Safe Screen (for face & body) are fantastic. Duchess Marden has a lovely Hydrating Masque. As for makeup, the Hourglass Film Noir mascara is quite possibly the first one that didn't smudge on me. The Guerlain 68 Champs-Elysees fall palette is so beautiful. Tarte's emphasEYES clay waterproof eyeliner pot and natural cheek stains are also really nice and eco-friendly (less chemicals for your face!). The new YSL Rouge Pur Couture are so creamy and luscious.
I hope you enjoyed Tami's interview :)  If you haven't done so already, remember to check out her blog!  I promise you won't be disappointed :)
