[Interview] Meet Kaitlyn from Kaitlyn's Beauty Journal 愛美時尚誌

Remember I introduced to you Kaitlyn, hostess and producer of the new Chinese beauty show - Kaitlyn's Beauty Journal 愛美時尚誌?  Well, I finally got a chance to meet up with her in person and also got a chance to interview her!  By the way, she is just as sweet and bubbly as she is on TV!  If you are in the SF Bay Area, and are interested in watching a beauty show in Mandarin Chinese, make sure to tune in to KTSF Channel 26 on Saturdays at 6:30PM.  Don't worry if you aren't able to catch her on TV because you can watch her on Youtube as well.

Let's get the interview started!

Have you always been into beauty and skincare products since you were young? Was there a special someone in your life who inspired you to explore this industry?
I was into the beauty stuff while I was a kid, I tried to put egg white on my face because my mom told me it's good for skin.  My parents told me if I wanted to put on make up, go to department stores and don't buy random things from the street.  I guess that led me to explore the beauty industry.
How did you land your dream job of becoming your own beauty show host? I know you have been a beauty blogger for a number of years.
I started as a marketing intern at KTSF when I was a senior in college and I 've been enjoying it since.  I showed my boss Lisa Yokota one of the Taiwanese beauty shows and she realized that there is a market for this kind of show, so we started to work on it. Since I've been making Youtube makeup tutorial videos, Lisa believes that I could give it a try to be a host and here I am.
Did you always know that you wanted to become a beauty show host and producer? Or did this opportunity come by as a wonderful surprise?
Actually I always wanted to work in beauty and marketing, this opportunity just fits what I want, both of them.
How do you come up with content for your show? How far out in advance do you have to plan for each episode?
Mostly is from my experience from writing my blog, I know what I want to share with our audience and what might be interesting, we've planed out the outline for the entire season about 2~3 month before the show started, but usually we need about 1~2 weeks for complete the content for each episode.
I've been watching your show since it first premiered, are you happy with the way it turned out? What can we look forward to seeing in the upcoming episodes and future seasons?
I was flattered, since it was a new show and we aired at the same time as the Giants game  :) I will talk more about fashion, and more party looks because we always have parties in the city :D Also, we would like discuss bridal related topics too :)
What are some of your interesting backstage moments?
Not interesting, but most memorable was when I was shooting at Japan Center Beauty Clinic and I didn't eat anything that morning, during the shooting I suddenly felt dizzy and I couldn't stand up, this is the first time (and I hope it's the last) that I couldn't finish my scene due to health issues.  I appreciate the KBJ crew for understanding and supporting me (also the ladies at the hair salon, she went out to buy me Japanese sweets so I could feel better.)
What are your must-have beauty favorites at the moment?
Cream De La Mer, my skin is so dry and this is the only thing that could give me enough moisture and protection.

Thanks Kaitlyn for this interview!  Make sure to tune in to KTSF Channel 26 on Saturdays at 6:30PM to watch Kaitlyn on Kaitlyn's Beauty Journal 愛美時尚誌, or watch her on Youtube!
