I don't know if I am being extra paranoid but lately I've been really bothered by my freckles, they are looking really noticeable these days. I never bothered concealing them before because I didn't really mind them but something changed and now I am obsessed with concealing them =/ I've had freckles since I was a kid and I think I am getting more as I age?
Anyway, I've decided to try the Maybelline New York Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer
since it reminds me of the YSL Touche Eclat. I have no intention of buying the YSL, can't justify the high price tag! The Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer I thought sounded really promising - it is a gel-based concealer that illuminates shadows as it conceals. I had a feeling that freckles would be difficult to conceal so I thought I'd try a concealer that highlights as well so it can reflect light away. And since freckles are mainly around the cheekbones highlighting while concealing sounded like a good idea.
Here's some before and afters:
Not bad eh? In the after pictures I had ONLY the concealer on and nothing else - no foundation, no powder, just the concealer! Not all the freckles are concealed but I am satisfied enough :)
I bought the one in Ivory, it is a tiny bit light for my skin (MAC nw 15-20), but since I apply them on the cheekbones it's fine, good to highlight a little bit anyway. I did try this to cover my dark circles as well, which works fantastically! However it did make me look a tad overly made-up when I used it on my eye circles, mainly because my eye circles aren't that dark to begin with. My philosophy in terms of complexion and concealing is to start off conservatively, only upgrade in the coverage department when you really need to, else you'll end up looking too overly done. My 2 cents.

If u have freckles, I suggest u wear sunscreen everyday ! It can prevent u from getting freckles or hyperpigmentation :):)
Thank you for sharing this. You look very pretty despite your freckles. I love your blog. Randomly came across it and must say your skin is very similar to mine (freckle wise) so I am loving all your product reviews. The outcome of this concealer looks great without being too cakes. I'm going to give this product a try:). Thanks again for your postings.
thanks for the comments! :) i've used up most of this concealer, time for a refill...
I love your freckles, they are so cute! Do you think the concealor would work on other areas? Would the highlighting effect look okay on the cheek and chin areas?
thanks ANA. Do you mean spot treating cheek/chin areas? I'm not sure, let me get back to you on that.
Helpful! My kid usually just goes without makeup, but she wants to be a broken doll for Halloween, and she is a freckle farm so I figured I'd better figure out how to cover at least certain areas for a more doll-like complexion. Her freckles are lighter, so this one may be enough to at least fade them out enough to keep from ruining the effect. Oh, but I keep seeing people, as I search, saying that sunscreen will prevent freckles. In my experience, it stops sunburn but does NOT stop freckles. We all freckle right through it. It's worth wearing anyway, but no, it will not necessarily stop freckles (it might for someone, but that's our experience).
Number9 - I agree with you, sunscreen does not help me prevent freckles! I wear sunscreen everyday and always avoid the sun, but I still get freckles :(
love the pictures you did. it is really helpful.
